HOW WE WORK

IT IS CRITICAL FOR WASHINGTON, D.C. TO EXPAND OPPORTUNITY THROUGH EDUCATIONAL CHOICE AND SCHOOL REFORM.

Great strides are being made. Leaders are taking on the tough job of reforming and improving schools and expanding opportunity through choice. There's energy and enthusiasm, and we are helping to lead the charge. Policymakers need to hear a constant drumbeat of support for reform.

  1. Supports educational options for all families.

  2. Encourages continuing the three-part federal investments in D.C. public and public charter schools and Opportunity scholarships.

  3. Supports reauthorization and strengthening of the D.C. Opportunity Scholarship Program.

  4. Supports ideas that will result in improved schools and better learning opportunities for DC students.

  5. Celebrates leaders who support this agenda.


OUR ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

  • Informing people of events, town hall meetings, and hearings related to D.C. education.

  • Creating awareness through radio and newspaper ads.

  • Involving residents in petition drives.

  • Providing media and advocacy training.

  • Identifying and supporting family, student, and school leaders.

  • Partnering with other organizations, like the Greater Washington Urban League and Friends of Choice in Urban Schools (FOCUS).
